I have a two year old Toshiba that i would like to give to my Grandaughter. I'm buying a new one next week and was wondering if having it reformatted would be worth the money and would it be just like original. I certainly wouldn't want to spend more than a new one would cost if i have to do a lot of repairs down the line.hola

Why pay to have it reformatted when you can easily do it yourself? A clean reinstall should return it to its original condition right out of the box. You should be able to reformat the HD by pressing one of your 'F' keys on top (usually F11 or F12) on start-up and following the on-screen instructions. You may want to add some RAM for her, but that won't cost much.

Is it really that easy? I'm willing to give it a try, however my wife has 685 songs in i tunes libaries. Do i have to have those backed up and is that difficult? Are we talking about needing tons of disc's and two or three days.If so , with my limited knowledge might be better to have someone with know how, however i'd:dancefool love to try just to say i did it.

If your songs are all that you want to save, why don't you first find out how large the file is, maybe get a flash drive large enough to hold them, maybe even burn them onto several CD's. There are a handfull of options, these are just a couple of basic ones. The process of reformatting is easy but since your wife's songs are involved, you'd better let someone with some experience help you. Just ask some of your friends, it's too easy and it really doesn't take that long. Maybe it's a good time to upgrade your hard drive, too. Start fresh, 7200rpm. :103631605 alwatts

If you don't know what you're doing, notebooks can be a real bitch due to the specialized drivers(software) for all the devices. It's not like a regular PC where you have about an 80% chance of Windows having drivers for everything.

It may be worth paying to have it done unless you feel like going down the learn & possibly burn road.

I appreciate it. Knowing what i'm doing would be an understatement. I decided to go that route. The price seems a little excessive , but if it works would be beeter than buying a new computer for my Grandaughter..If it doesn't work then i'm only out 150.00.
